Our story

With over 40 years of experience, Eric Nixon taught his daughter Lianna wildlife photography. Their journey to experience wild places through a photographer’s lens began when Lianna was 11 in South Africa. This sparked their ambition to travel the world and seek a greater understanding of nature and wilderness through photography and film.

For the past decade, Lianna and Eric have been taking groups to Katmai National Park. Alaska is one of their favorite places they have photographed together and are determined to share it with others.

Mikaela discovered her passion for Alaska after living there for a 6-month "sabbatical" in 2022. Since then, she has returned to Alaska every summer to deepen her understanding of these incredible animals and their essential role in the ecosystem. In May 2024, Mikaela completed her bear guide training through the Commercial Bear Viewing Association. She now resides in Vancouver, British Columbia with her dog, Buddy.
